- The ‘how’ and ‘why’ fibre optic cabling is used in a datacomms environment
- How optical fibres work
- Current standards and terminologies
- Identification of fibre optic components
- Working safely with optical fibres
- Installation procedures and working practices
- Preparation of fibre optic cabling for termination, connectorisation and splicing
- Fibre optic cabling fusion splicing overview
- Testing overview, including ILS and OTDR’s
- Interpreting test results
Assessment
There is no formal assessment on this course although delegates can opt for an optional written test
Other Info
Although this course is non accredited, it will provide delegates with the skills to move onto to the City and Guilds 3667-102 fully accredited level 2 qualification in copper cabling in an Internal Environment
Delegates are provided with a full colour comprehensive course manual to work through during the course.
PLEASE NOTE: All practical training sessions are carried out in a SIMULATED environment and are fully supervised.
