Who will benefit
Aimed at delegates who wish to gain knowledge and to develop an insight into the concepts involved with the installation of micro ducts/sub ducts. Risk assessments and other safety requirements as well as the requirement to carry out functional pre-blowing checks. Operation of blowing equipment and ancillary machinery is also covered.
Please note that this unit is normally intended to be delivered in an internal environment
Course Content
- Carry out a risk assessment prior to working with air compressors and installation of micro ducts
- Complete a range of safety checks when operating compressors, electrical and hydraulic driven blowing machines
- Build an end to end blowing link for the size of the fibre unit being blown in.
- Use differing types of micro duct and sub duct assemblies and interconnecting devices.
- Correct storage and handling of micro duct/sub duct assemblies and other interconnecting microduct/subduct hardware
- Identify different types and methods of trenching
- Identify reinstalment and back-filling techniques of trenches to manufacturer’s recommendations
- Connect micro ducts into tube bundles assemblies and tube distribution closures
- pre-blowing pressure and continuity testing
- Carry out blown fibre processes
Assessment
Candidates are individually assessed by a number of timed assessments.

All candidates associated assessments are marked internally by a nominated and City and Guilds approved assessor.
These assessments will be subject to a quality audit by the awarding body
