WiFi 5 access points extend wireless coverage across an office or building, connecting back to the wired network over Ethernet. This range is supplied by TP-Link under the Omada line, in Wireless N and AC1200 or AC1350 MU-MIMO models.
Choosing a WiFi 5 access point
- Wall plate models for mounting in place of a data outlet, or ceiling mount models for open plan spaces.
- Wireless N speeds up to 300Mbps, or AC1200 and AC1350 MU-MIMO models with faster 5GHz performance.
- Most access points in this range require PoE for power, so no separate power socket is needed at the mounting point.
For access points built to the newer wireless standard, see WiFi 6 Access Points, or browse the full Wi-Fi range.
WiFi 5 Access Points FAQs
Do these access points need a separate power supply?
Several models in this range are marked as requiring PoE, meaning they take power from a PoE switch or injector over the same cable as the data connection, avoiding the need for a mains socket at the mounting point.
What is the difference between wall plate and ceiling mount access points?
A wall plate access point fits in place of a standard data outlet on a wall, while a ceiling mount access point sits on the ceiling for wider, more even coverage across an open space.
What is the difference between the WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 ranges?
WiFi 5 covers the Wireless N and AC1200 or AC1350 models in this range. For access points built to the newer wireless standard, see WiFi 6 Access Points.
