Rackmount PoE switches fit directly into a 19 inch data cabinet alongside patch panels and other rack equipment, making them the usual choice once a network outgrows a desktop switch. This TP-Link range spans 8 up to 48 ports for offices, server rooms and larger comms cabinets.

Choosing port count and PoE

Port counts run from 8 to 48, with 10, 16, 24 and 28 port models in between, so the switch can be sized to the cabinet and the number of connected devices. PoE+ ports supply power to access points, cameras and phones, and both managed and unmanaged switches are available.

For smaller sites a shelf mounted option may suit better, see Desktop PoE Switches, or Industrial PoE Switches for harsher sites, both part of the PoE Switches range.

Rackmount PoE Switches FAQs

How many ports do rackmount PoE switches offer?

This range spans 8, 10, 16, 24, 28 and 48 port models, so a switch can be matched to the number of cabled devices and the space available in the data cabinet.

Should I choose a managed or unmanaged switch?

Both managed and unmanaged models are available in this range. Managed switches allow configuration of VLANs and monitoring, while unmanaged switches are simpler to install where that control is not needed.

What is a PoE+ port used for?

PoE+ ports deliver power as well as data over the network cable, so access points, cameras and phones can be powered directly from the switch without a separate power supply at each device.
