Powerline kits, also known as homeplug kits, use a building’s existing mains wiring to extend a network connection into a room without running new network cabling. TP-Link is the brand stocked in this range.

Choosing a powerline kit

These starter kits connect over a single Gigabit RJ45 port and are supplied as a 1 set pack with white adaptors. A passthrough version keeps the mains socket available for another appliance, so check whether the model you need is a passthrough type before ordering.

Powerline kits sit alongside our other networking accessories. Where a fibre link is a better fit than mains wiring, see our media converters or SFP / Mini GBIC modules.

Powerline Kits FAQs

What is a powerline kit used for?

A powerline kit, also known as a homeplug kit, uses a building’s existing mains wiring to carry a network connection into a room without running new cabling.

What is the difference between a passthrough kit and a standard one?

A passthrough powerline kit includes its own mains socket, so plugging it in does not lose a socket for other appliances. A standard kit occupies the mains socket it is plugged into.
