Modular Plugs and Boots FAQs

What is a pass-through RJ45 plug?

A pass-through plug lets the conductors extend through the front of the plug during crimping, then trims flush, which can make consistent termination easier. The SpeedyRJ45 range is stocked in tubs of 100, 500 and 1000.

Do I need shielded or unshielded RJ45 plugs?

Shielded plugs are stocked for large diameter Cat6 and Cat6a cable and should be used with screened cable to maintain the shield through the connector. Unshielded plugs suit standard UTP cable.

What are RJ45 boots used for?

RJ45 Boots fit over a crimped plug for strain relief, protecting the connector from being pulled or snagged. Locking versions are also stocked for Cat5e and Cat6/Cat6a plugs.
