RJ45 Cable Couplers

RJ45 cable couplers join two RJ45 terminated copper data cables, for extension, relocation or repair without re-terminating the cable ends. Available for Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a in grey or white, including shielded and external IP rated versions.

RJ45 cable couplers connect two RJ45 terminated patch leads end to end, used to extend a run, relocate a connection or repair a damaged cable without re-terminating either end. They come from TUK and KAUDEN in female to female inline formats.

Choosing an RJ45 cable coupler

  • System category to match the cable being joined: Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a.
  • Grey or white colour to suit the installation.
  • Shielded versions to maintain screening on shielded runs, and external IP rated couplers for outdoor or exposed locations.
  • DIN rail mounting couplers where the joint needs to be fixed inside an enclosure.

For a punchdown alternative rather than a plug to plug joint, see IDC Punchdown Cable Couplers, or for tool free termination see Toolless Termination Cable Couplers, within the wider Cable Couplers range.

RJ45 Cable Couplers FAQs

What is an IP rated RJ45 coupler used for?

IP rated RJ45 couplers, such as the IP67 and IP68 rated versions in this range, seal the joint against water and dust ingress, suited to external or exposed cable runs rather than an indoor comms room.

Can I join a Cat6a cable with a coupler?

Yes. This range includes a shielded Cat6a through coupler for DIN rail mounting as well as Cat5e and Cat6 options, so pick the coupler matching the system category of the cable being joined.

What is the difference between this range and IDC Punchdown Cable Couplers?

RJ45 couplers join two cables that are already terminated with RJ45 plugs. See IDC Punchdown Cable Couplers where the cables need to be terminated by punchdown instead.
