This 1 day course is the ultimate “master class” for fibre optic cabling installers, technicians and fibre optic engineers who are already involved in carrying out tests on fibre optic cabling systems.

The course aims to provide the delegate with a much greater depth of understanding of the processes behind the OTDR

As part of the course, there will be an explanation of system design parameters and advanced testing requirements, for both multimode and singlemode fibre optic cabling systems. There is a separate “hands on” practical session.

Our training centre is located in Harlow in the South East of England just off the M25.  We can also deliver courses at your location by arrangement if you have a suitable workspace.

Who will benefit

The course is designed primarily for fibre optic installers and technicians who have a some understanding of fibre optic cabling testing and are seeking to advance their OTDR testing skills.

  • Operating the OTDR – manual user settings including pulse widths, refractive index  settings, reflectance detection, wavelength settings
  • Trace and Event interpretation

Assessment

Although there is no formal assessment, delegates can take the optional examination.

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance with successful delegates who pass the optional examination will receive a Total Comms Training certificate.

This course is subject to vat and is inclusive of all examination fees.

Other Info

Delegates who wish to attend this course should already have some understanding of fibre optic cabling systems. However, as the course will be aimed at an intermediate level, we do strongly recommend that prospective candidates are in possession of a successful City and Guilds 3667-02: 102 fibre optic(internal) 02 or City and Guilds 3667-02: 103 (external) certificates.

We also suggest that delegates should have some practical fibre optic installation experience.
